Review of the Rider Dunas Flip Flop

The Rider Dunas flip flop has been in production since early 2003 and has stayed in the Rider family since then. Each year the Dunas has a small number of improvements that keep it both current and a firm favourite with the people who know and wear this extremely comfortable flip flop.

The foot bed of the Dunas flip flop is built out of an extremely robust and flexible elastomer which makes it super soft with high impact cushioning, 100% waterproof and extremely hard wearing. Along with the amazing materials used in the Dunas the shape of the moulding of the insole that your feet sit on promotes airflow under your feet keeping you dry and comfortable no matter how long you wear the flip flops.

The toe post in the Dunas flip flops is constructed from two canvas tabs. Two tabs are used because it means you can have a very strong and durable fixing but it does not have to be wide and so is very comfortable between your toes. Secondly by using two tabs of canvas it stops the toe post from being able to twist again ensuring ultimate comfort.

Outside of the central foot bed the flip flop has a slightly raised outer edge which helps to stablise your feet on the flip flop. The outer edge is made from the same material as the sole of the Dunas. This outer material is a much tougher hard wearing PVC that provides a very tough sole to protect the flip flops. The underside of the sole has a non-slip pattern moulded in to give you a secure footing.

The strap that crosses over your foot is a composite made from several layers of PVC and a softer inner padding.. The outer layers give a simulated leather look, but because they are made from PVC they are not effected by the sun, water or any amount of abuse. A stiffer central core gives stability and support to the strap and a softer padded layer sits on the underside of the strap against the top of your foot.

The strap is anatomically shaped so that it sits snugly over the top of your foot with out putting any pressure on your feet. This gives a secure comfortable fit that keeps the flip flop securely on your feet. The complex and clever design of the strap on the Dunas flip flops ensure that no matter how long you wear these flip flops for you will not suffer from the common blisters and saw skin from rubbing.
