Jayce's Indo blog Part 1. Crazy police chases and £2 fines!
First week in Indonesia…

I came out here with different intentions than the norm.
This year i was meant to spend the winter in ireland and get into some cold slabby barrels, but unfortunately plans changed due to being crushed by the biggest wave, i have not only ridden, but even seen.
I took 2 months out the water for my medial ligaments in my knee to heal, I trained hard and did a lot of physio, but I'm just not strong enough to face the power of the Irish coast yet.
So here I am for the 5th year in a row out in Bali, soaking up the sun, eating rice and vegetables, surfing incredibly fun waves. Its been small out here, which is probably a blessing for me as I can re injure my knee easily. The heat has limbered me right up and allowed the healing time to be minimised, which is one of the main reasons for coming.
I love Indonesia, Its a special place, as any one who has been here would know, for me its like going to another planet, a place where my mind is set free and the reality is left at home.
Already in a week we have had 1 crazy police chase, which was stupid, as we could of been killed on the deathly roads. 2 days later when I was flagged down again I thought, I might just pay the measly fine of £2.00 this time, instead of risking my life. It took a while to get the gnarly Javanese police man from £70 to £2.00, thats the annoying part.
I'm now in sumbawa (lakey peak) I feel at risk in bali, on the roads, out at night, every day feels like it could be your last. Lakey peak is a get away from the rest of the westerners. Its a simple place, with only surf, fishing, good food and sleep. I'm content with that, for a few weeks anyway.
Hopefully the next update I can show you some amazing waves and some cool footage… keep a look out.
